What are Vehicle Services?

Vehicle Services is an on-line service that allows you to renew your vehicle registration(s) and print your registration certificate(s) through the internet. Simple step-by-step instructions are provided on this website to guide you through the renewal process.
Clients registered with the DMV e-Notification service will receive vehicle registration renewal reminders by e-mail.

Clients may renew their vehicle registration(s) on-line or in person at your local issuing site.

General

Clients completing an on-line vehicle renewal for the first time will receive a blank sticker in the mail.  You must affix this blank sticker over the existing validation sticker on your licence plate.
Your vehicle registration renewal is complete once your payment has been processed. You must print the vehicle registration certificate, and are required by law to have the vehicle registration certificate and valid insurance in your vehicle at all times.

We also suggest that you print the payment receipt for your records.

No, a student from another province, state or country who temporarily resides in the NWT to attend an accredited educational institution on a full-time basis is not required to register their vehicle in the NWT.

No.  To process a change of address you must attend your local issuing site with the required documentation.
Outstanding Fines, a change in your address, or no proof of valid insurance.
You will need an active E-Notification account on the online DMV services as well as valid insurance.

You will be asked to provide the following information as part of the online renewal of your vehicle registration:
  • The name of your insurance company;
  • Agent/Broker name;
  • Policy number; and Policy expiry date.
  • The licence plate number and current odometer reading of the vehicle being registered. `
  • PDF reader software such as Adobe Reader on your computer to view documents.
  • A printer to print the Registration Certificate(s) and payment receipt.

For payment Visa, MasterCard, American Express or a debit card are accepted.

You can print a replacement copy of your vehicle registration certificate by clicking here.
You can also print several other replacement documents through the online DMV services including receipts, examination bookings, commercial registration permits, as well as single trip and annual permits.
