Transfer a driver’s licence to the NWT

Available in-person only

Visit a driver and vehicle office with:

  1. A completed form (copies also available at driver and vehicle offices)
  2. Supporting documents

If you currently hold a professional class of licence (1,2,3,4), a medical examination from the NWT will be required before you can upgrade or transfer a licence.

After moving to the Northwest Territories, you have 30 days to transfer your licence.

Fees

  • 5-year new licence: $103.00  (seniors 60+: $51.00)
  • 3-year new licence: $79.00  (seniors 60+: $40.00)
  • 1-year new licence: $43.00  (seniors 60+: $22.00)
  • Replacement of lost, damaged, or stolen licence: $31.00  (seniors 60+: $16.00)
